The Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is just 2 minutes walk from Gallery Hotel

The Natural History Museum is the UK's national museum of natural history, and a centre of scientific excellence in taxonomy and biodiversity. The Museum's mission is to maintain and develop its collections and use them to promote the discovery, understanding, responsible use and enjoyment of the natural world.

As part of Architecture Week 2003 The Natural History Museum will be offering visitors the chance to find out more about the history and future of the Museum's architecture on special tours being held at the Museum on Sunday 29 June 2003.

There will be an opportunity to hear about the design of the Waterhouse building, one of London's most famous landmarks. Tours will also introduce visitors to the architecture of the Darwin Centre, one of the biggest developments in the Museum's history. Find out how architects have responded to the challenges of housing millions of specimens in a building that will bring the public closer to our scientists and offer them a glimpse 'behind the scenes' for the first time.

Experience the thrill and danger of life amongst the dinosaurs. Robotic technology allows you to witness a prehistoric spectacle as T. rex guards a recent kill.
